Dr. Clint Laurent

Demographer and Author of '2045 The Growing Demographic Crises' and 'China's Demographic Future' Global Demographics

Dr Clint Laurent is an authority on interpreting the impact of global demographic change. He has been observing, analysing, forecasting, and interpreting demographics for over 25 years. He founded Global Demographics Ltd in 1996 in Hong Kong (initially as Asian Demographics Ltd). The Company was renamed as Global Demographics in 2000 to reflect subsequent expanded geographical coverage. The Company has developed substantial databases of countries' demographic and socio-economic profiles. The countries covered account for 92% of the world’s population and 96% of its GDP. The databases and forecasts encompass 117 countries, 31 provinces, 353 prefectures, and 2178 counties/cities in China. The Company’s analysis tracks and forecasts the changing nature of populations, labour forces, households and their income and expenditure patterns to 2045 and the implications of that change for each country’s society and economy. Dr Laurent moved to Hong Kong in 1976, initially with Hong Kong University and then as a Director of Price Waterhouse, where he built up a market research and consultancy group. Before founding Global Demographics Ltd, he started Asia Market Intelligence (AMI) in 1985, a market research company now part of Ipsos and then (1992) Asia Studies Ltd, a high-value analysis and reporting firm, now part of Harris Interactive. He then started Asian Demographics Ltd in 1996. Dr Laurent has a PhD in Marketing and Statistics from Bath University in the UK and a Master of Business from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
